Last week The English Apple Man featured a few new apple varieties and this week we will look at the history of Scarlett Paradise, Zingy R, and Kissabel
My regular readers will have an understanding of the importance in todays market place of Trade Marked varieties. The two leading Club varieties in British Supermarkets are Pink Lady and Jazz both excellent apples with dynamic marketing support.

ZINGY R Grown by Adrian Scripps Ltd & marketed by Tesco.
Zingy has its roots in Anjou, near Angers. This is where it was discovered and developed with love and passion by our nurserymen. True to his origins, his first plantations were located in the same place. And since this year, Zingy has also been tested in England, Germany, Switzerland and Italy!
From the first fruiting, Zingy R was dazzling among the other apple trees. Naturally, the visual selection was easy. The taste then surprised and conquered us. Its pretty colouring and taste have remained the same since those years. Zingy R is the result of 15 years of selection, testing and development by a team of passionate professionals who innovate every day to satisfy the desires of all gourmets!

Kissabel R
The first UK harvest for the club apple brand was in September 2021, but the season was accompanied by Kissabel's first UK marketing campaign by UK Licence holder Worldwide Fruit Ltd
Natural, tempting apples, astonishing in both appearance and taste. Kissabel R fruit is the outcome of more than 20 years of research conducted with exclusively natural methods by French breeder IFO, in which red-flesh wild apples were crossed with varieties of outstanding quality in terms of flavour, keeping, appearance and fruit size.
The result is a unique assortment of red-flesh apples, which differ in flesh
shade, skin colour, flavour and harvest timing
Kissabel R - Rouge. With red skin and flesh, this fresh, crisp variety has a bright colour and intense flavour, enriched with hints of berries.
Kissabel R - Orange. The attractive orange skin is recognisable at a glance, and conceals astonishing pink-red flesh. Firm and juicy, it has a perfect sweet-tart balance.
Kissabel R - Jaune. A bite into the freckled yellow skin reveals sweet, attractive
flesh with delicate pink nuances. This variety has very good storability
"The Kissabel R brand is characterised by the surprise of crunching into an apple and discovering its unique flesh colour and amazing flavour," comments Ifored Chairman Bruno Essner. "The Ifored partners are preparing for the release of Kissabel R apples all over the world in the next 5 years. The exciting Kissabel R range will attract and retain a new generation of consumer thanks to their distinctive sensory characteristics".
Britain is the first market where the full Kissabel range, including Kissabel Rouge as well as Orange and Jaune, is available to consumers. And the Rouge variety has received "enthusiastic" feedback since becoming the latest Kissabel apple to launch in Britain, the brand said.
