The English Apple Man is delighted to feature my friends, Nick Dunn and his daughter Stephanie Dunn-James exciting first attempt at exhibiting at Chelsea Flower Show
Frank P Matthews Trees is proud to announce that its debut exhibit at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025 has been honoured with a prestigious Silver-Gilt Medal. This recognition celebrates the nursery's innovative presentation and horticultural excellence showcased in the Great Pavilion.

The exhibit, a first of its kind at Chelsea, focused on the genus Malus, highlighting their diverse flower colours, unique leaf shapes, and varied tree forms.

"Visitors experienced a display of over 35 different flowering forms of Malus including some fine example of trained fruit trees which got the most attention from the public (Espaliers, stepovers, candelabra shapes), showing how you can grow fruit trees inventively at home
"We are thrilled to receive the Silver-Gilt Medal on our first appearance at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show," said Stephanie James Dunn, 4th Generation at Frank P Matthews.
"This award is a testament to our team's dedication and passion for showcasing the beauty and versatility of ornamental trees."
Below: In Stephanie's own words: "The team has been involved in QVC Chelsea Specials as well as featuring on BBC Gardener's
World during the week and the response has been resounding, with the public finding the beauty of Malus and purchasing for te own spaces with one social media supporter saying "Thank you for bringing your enthusiasm for Malus to Chelsea... You've inspired me to grow
more Malus!"
"Malus is such an underrated tree but the benefits to our garden make it a hero. Bringing interest and beauty to every season, generating food for us and for wildlife and creating habitats - This is such a good value tree to have in any space" said Nick Dunn, Managing Director and 3rd Generation a Frank P Matthews.
The success of the exhibit was made possible through collaborations with local Worcestershire and Herefordshire businesses, including Border Oak, Melcourt Industries Ltd, Plant Supports UK, Tom's Yard and Edward Bulmer. Their contributions were integral to bringing the vision of the display to life.
Outside the grounds of RHS Chelsea Flower Show is the ever popular Belgravia in Bloom where the beauty of Malus has taken over the Edward Bulmer Natural Paints Shop. Local Artists have interpreted the beauty of Malus, a Pomona colour palette has been curated and the
beautiful blossom of Malus is adorning the shop for the week before heading to Horatio's Garden and supporting their amazing cause.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, held annually since 1913 (except during the World Wars and in 2020), is renowned for setting trends and showcasing cutting-edge garden designs and Frank P Matthews are confident that Malus has been reimagined during the show and a spark ignited in gardeners everywhere.
